Is it permissible for a girl to solemnize her marriage based on her father's approval of the marriage, even if he refused to attend the ceremony, requested her to complete her university studies, and desired a mixed-gender wedding with music?

What a father does in preventing his daughter from marrying until she finishes her studies is forbidden (haram) and not permissible if a suitable suitor proposes and there is fear of temptation (fitan). This action of his is considered 'adhl (unjust prevention of marriage), which necessitates fasq (transgression).

If the closest guardian ('wali') commits 'adhl, the guardianship transfers to the next closest relative among the 'asabah (agnatic kin). If they refuse, the guardianship transfers to the legitimate ruler (al-hakim al-shar'i) to marry the woman.

Therefore, people of goodwill can mediate to persuade the father. If he does not respond, one of them (the extended guardians) takes on the responsibility of marrying you off. If they refuse, the matter is referred to the judiciary to compel them or for the judge to marry you.

It is not permissible for a woman to conduct her own marriage contract, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "There is no marriage except with a guardian" and "A woman may not marry off another woman, nor may a woman marry herself off."
