What is the interpretation of the Almighty's saying: "And if you ask [their wives] for anything, ask them from behind a partition. That is purer for your hearts and their hearts." And does that mean that love is forbidden, and why did it not say "purer for your desires"?

The prohibition in Islamic law against a man’s heart becoming attached to a strange woman is due to it being a prelude to indecency. The interpretation of the Quranic verse (And when you ask them [his wives] for anything, ask them from behind a partition. That is purer for your hearts and their hearts) indicates that interaction between a man and a woman should be from behind a partition, as this is purer for the hearts, safeguarding them from suspicion and evil thoughts. As for a man’s love for a woman unlawful to him, if it results from his own action and acquisition, then it is forbidden. However, if it is not due to his own acquisition, such as if he looked suddenly and then averted his gaze, and his heart subsequently became attached, he is not sinful for that.
