Does the soul eat, drink, and benefit from food and drink like the body, or does it not do so?
The nature, reality, and location of the soul within the body are matters of the unseen (Ghayb). A Muslim should not delve into them due to their unprofitability, as it is impossible to know whether the soul benefits from food and drink, for it is not a part of the body, nor is it of the same kind as the physical things we observe. Allah Almighty says: "And they ask you, [O Muhammad], about the soul. Say, 'The soul is of the affair of my Lord. And you have not been given of knowledge except a little.'" (Quran 17:85) The soul is an entity that exists independently, departs the body, and experiences bliss or torment. It is neither the body nor a part of it.
