What is the ruling on a woman working at the Tobacco Corporation in a job as an archivist and file keeper, knowing that she supports two university students and her husband is deceased, and the corporation is responsible for seizing smuggled tobacco and imposing taxes on it?

It is impermissible to work for this company because its operations involve two prohibited matters: First, its organization and endorsement of the buying and selling of tobacco, which is forbidden. Second, its imposition of unlawful taxes on people, except in exceptional circumstances that do not apply to this case. Consequently, working for it is unlawful, as it is considered aiding in sin. The Muslim woman must leave this job, and "whoever fears Allah - He will make for him a way out and will provide for him from where he does not expect." If she is compelled to work there, she may remain in it until she finds another job, and she must diligently search for another employment, and upon finding it, she must leave the current job immediately.
