Gambling is a grave and forbidden major sin, and it is a form of consuming people's wealth unjustly. Its earnings are evil and unlawful. The notion that gambling to recover money is permissible is a false assumption. One must immediately repent from gambling by ceasing it, regretting it, resolving never to return to it, and resisting the whispers of Satan. Factors that aid in repentance include accompanying the righteous, attending scholarly gatherings, occupying one's time with beneficial deeds, and frequent remembrance of Allah.
