What are the characteristics of Surat Al-Hujurat?

Surat Al-Hujurat is a majestic Surah that includes foundational beliefs and ethical directives for Muslims. It aims to build a refined and pure society with proper etiquette towards Allah, His Messenger, oneself, and others. The Surah contains six essential lessons:

1. Etiquette with the Messenger (peace be upon him): By the obligation to lower one's voice and not to put oneself before him. Allah the Almighty said: "O you who have believed, do not put [yourselves] before Allah and His Messenger and fear Allah. Indeed, Allah is Hearing and Knowing."

2. Verifying news: Especially when it comes from a wicked person. Allah the Almighty said: "O you who have believed, if there comes to you a disobedient one with information, investigate, lest you harm a people out of ignorance and become, over what you have done, regretful."

3. Reconciliation between believers: And emphasis on the bond of faith. Allah the Almighty said: "And if two factions among the believers should fight, then make settlement between the two... The believers are none but brothers, so make reconciliation between your two brothers and fear Allah that you may receive mercy."

4. Prohibition of mockery, backbiting, and insulting nicknames: Due to their impact on the dignity of individuals and society.

5. Prohibition of ill-suspicion, backbiting, and spying: To preserve the sanctity and dignity of individuals.

6. Clarification that piety is the basis of superiority: And not lineage or origin, while clarifying the reality of faith and Allah's favor in granting it.
