Should one who experiences irregular سلس perform ablution once after the time for each prayer begins, or is it necessary for him to examine the place from which urine exits and wait for it to stop, despite the hardship and waste of time involved?

If the discharge from a person afflicted with سلس (urinary incontinence or continuous discharge) ceases for a duration sufficient for purification and prayer, he should perform ablution (wudu') and pray within that period with a valid purification. However, if his discharge is continuous or intermittent without regularity, he should perform ablution after the entry of the prayer time and pray the obligatory (fard) and supererogatory (nawafil) prayers. He should also take precautions by tying a cloth (خرقة) over the source of the discharge to prevent the spread of impurity. According to the Hanbalis, he is not obliged to re-tie the cloth or bandage for every prayer.
