How many Heavens (Jannat) and Hells (Niran) are there? What are their levels? And what is required to enter each level?

Paradise and Hell are one, yet each has levels and stations. The mention of Paradises in the plural indicates their grandeur and numerous levels, as in the Hadith of Umm Harithah. As for the levels of Hellfire, they vary according to the disbelief of its inhabitants, with the hypocrites being in its lowest abyss, and the lightest punishment being for one who has two sandals of fire that cause his brain to boil.

The exact number of levels of Paradise is not known. It is said that they are as numerous as the verses of the Qur’an, but this refers to the stations of the memorizers, not their levels. The levels vary according to deeds. The highest level of Paradise is Al-Firdaws. The deeds that raise the levels of its inhabitants include: faith in Allah and belief in the messengers, striving in the path of Allah, spending (in charity), performing ablution perfectly, taking many steps to the mosques, and memorizing the Qur’an.
