What is the ruling on extending one's legs in the direction of Mus'hafs (copies of the Qur'an) for comfort after prayer, and what is Ibn Taymiyyah's fatwa on this matter?

It is disliked to extend one's legs towards the Mus'haf (Qur'an) due to the disrespect involved. Scholars have differed regarding its ruling, classifying it between disliked (makruh) and forbidden (haram). A group of scholars considered this act disliked, while others deemed it forbidden. An exception to this is if the Mus'haf is placed at a height above the level of the legs. It is incumbent to venerate the Book of Allah and avoid anything that contradicts its perfect respect. Therefore, if you see someone doing this, you should either move the Mus'haf or advise them to respect the word of Allah.
