Is expiation (kaffarah) obligatory for every time a person swears by Allah out of anger or in an attempt to ignore a whisper (waswas) that hinders him from prayer, knowing that this oath has become a habit difficult to break? And is it permissible to donate the expiation amount directly to the poor or through charitable organizations whose projects do not include expiation for oaths?

We ask Allah to remove the obsessive thoughts from you, as it is an illness with causes and a cure. You owe an expiation (kaffarah) for breaking an oath for every oath you make to ignore the obsessive thoughts and then break it. You must refrain from making such oaths again, unless you are overwhelmed, in which case nothing is binding upon you. The expiation is given to the poor, and it is permissible to give it to trusted charities, provided you inform them that it is an expiation, or place it in a special expiation fund.
