Are the definitions for the following terms correct: the two temples (al-jabīnān), the sideburn (al-‘idhār), the temple (al-ṣudgh), the forelock (al-naz‘ah), the side-parting (al-taḥdhīf), and the white space between the sideburn and the ear?

The jurists have defined the limits of certain terms and phrases in jurisprudence, which are more useful than the definitions provided by linguists. These are as follows: 1. Al-Jabeen (the temple/forehead region): Above the sadgh. There are two jabeen, one to the right and one to the left of the forehead. 2. Al-Adhar (the sideburns): The hair growing parallel to the ears, between the sadgh and the arid (beard alongside the cheek). 3. Al-Sadgh (the temple): The hair that grows after the adhar ends, parallel to the top of the ear and extending slightly downwards. 4. Al-Naz'ataan (the receding hairline): The areas on both sides of the front of the head where hair has receded. 5. Al-Tahdheef (the fine hair at the temples): The area where fine hair grows between the beginning of the adhar and the naz'ah. Its boundary is defined by placing one end of a string on the tip of the ear and the other end straight up to the top of the forehead; whatever falls below this line towards the side of the face is the area of tahdheef. 6. The whiteness between the adhar and the ear: This is part of the face and should be washed. As for the whiteness above the tragus of the ear, it is part of the head and should be wiped.

Jurists differed on whether the area of tahdheef is included in the washing of the face. The majority of Shafi'is, some Malikis, and the correct opinion among Hanbalis held that it is part of the head. In contrast, the Hanafis, another opinion among Malikis, a view among Hanbalis, and the more correct opinion among Shafi'is, held that it is part of the face and should be washed with it.
