What should be done with a new, unworn piece of cloth that has various Qur’anic verses written on it?

The Qur'an should not be written on clothes, nor should one wear clothes on which it is written, because they are susceptible to desecration. Some jurists have held that wearing such clothes is forbidden if it involves desecration, such as sitting on the writing. Others have permitted wearing clothes on which the Qur'an is written, even if it entails sitting on the writing. The more cautious approach is to avoid wearing clothes on which verses from the Qur'an are written. However, it is not forbidden to keep the piece of cloth. If one wishes to dispose of it, it should not be subjected to desecration; rather, the writing should be erased by washing it, burning it, or burying it.
