Is it permissible for a woman who has had her marriage contract (aqd qiran) informally solemnized with a Turkish man – who drinks alcohol and was in an abnormal state on the day of the contract, and with whom consummation has not occurred nor has the contract been officially registered – to marry another person?

If the legal marriage contract has been concluded, the woman becomes a wife, and her doubt about the officiant does not affect the validity of the contract. If she wishes to separate from her husband, she must be divorced or annulled, and it is not permissible for her to marry anyone else before that. If the husband refuses to divorce or grant annulment, she should refer the matter to the Sharia (definition) court or present the case to scholars specialized in issuing fatwas.
