What is the ruling on working in foreign oil fields that do not stipulate shaving the beard, but the nature of the work sometimes necessitates wearing a gas mask, which does not operate efficiently with a beard, thereby threatening the employee's life?

Growing the beard is obligatory, and shaving it is forbidden. Forbidden acts are permissible out of necessity or pressing need, provided that the extent of the need is not exceeded. A Muslim should try to avert harm without committing a forbidden act, such as searching for beard masks, or finding another job, or starting a private business. If he is unable to do so, there is no sin in shaving it to the extent of the necessity, while limiting it to the measure of need. If it is possible to shorten it, then it is not permissible to shave it.
