It is not permissible for a woman to seek divorce from her husband without a legitimate Shar'i reason. Nor is it permissible for a man to disavow the lineage of his child born on the marital bed unless there is strong evidence or the process of li'an (mutual imprecation). Abortion is absolutely impermissible. The wife should not obey her husband in his demand for an abortion, and she should abandon his demand for divorce, striving instead for reconciliation and understanding, as divorce is the last resort.
