Is a disobedient person's belief that Allah may forgive him on the Day of Judgment or that he may die with a good end considered a sense of security from Allah's devices (makr Allah), and how does this relate to the saying: "Sinners (other than polytheists), in a state of not having repented, are subject to Allah's will; if He wills, He may forgive them"?

What is mentioned is not a security from the devising of Allah; for Allah may forgive the disobedient and his end may be good. As for whoever dies as a monotheist, having committed major sins, his affair is with Allah; if He wills, He punishes him, and if He wills, He forgives him. Security from the devising of Allah occurs when fear is completely absent from the heart. However, if fear decreases but is not entirely absent, it is a sin, not disbelief. A Muslim must combine fear and hope, and the disobedient must repent and fear the punishment of Allah.
