What is the ruling on swearing a false oath on the Qur’an to avoid harming an upright person, and what are the consequences of this action?

Lying is impermissible except for a legitimate interest that cannot be achieved otherwise, such as lying to avert harm from a Muslim, provided that averting it through tawriya (equivocation) and ta'rid (allusion) is not possible. This is because one who uses tawriya or ta'rid is truthful, and the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, approved of someone who swore that he was the Muslim's brother to avert harm from him.
