Supplicating after the tashahhud (definition) and before the taslim (definition) is absolutely recommended, whether it is a reported supplication (ma’thur) or not, but using a reported one is better. Among what has been reported from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, in this position is seeking refuge with Allah from four things: from the punishment of Hellfire, from the torment of the grave, from the trials of life and death, and from the evil of the Antichrist (Al-Masih Ad-Dajjal). As for the supplication "My Lord, forgive me," it is reported to be said between the two prostrations, and there is no objection to saying it here.
