What is a son to do regarding his unjust father who creates problems, and whose soul inclines him away from supplicating for him or for his guidance?

The father retains his right to dutifulness and kindness, even if he commits injustice. It was narrated from Ibn Abbas that whoever pleases his Muslim parents, Allah will open for him two gates of Paradise. If he displeases one of them, Allah will not be pleased with him until the parent is pleased, even if the father has wronged him.

If a child dislikes his father due to his bad behavior, there is no sin upon him for that inner feeling. However, he is not permitted to perform any action that harms the father, such as sighing or frowning, so as not to fall into disobedience.

The child should pray for his father's guidance. How wonderful it would be for the righteous father and his offspring to be gathered in Paradise, as confirmed by His saying, the Almighty: ﴿And those who believed and whose offspring followed them in faith — We will join them with their offspring, and We will not deprive them of anything of their deeds. Every person, for what he earned, is held in pledge.﴾ [At-Tur:21]. The interpretation of this verse states that Allah will gather the believers with their beloved ones from among their fathers, families, and children who are righteous enough to enter Paradise, to gladden their eyes, and He will raise the status of the lower to the status of the higher, out of Allah's grace.
