How accurate is the attribution of the two poetic verses: "If one day the people desire life, destiny will inevitably respond" and "Were it not for him, neither sun nor moon nor stars nor trees would have been created" to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him)?

The poet's saying: "If one day the people desire life" contradicts the belief in divine decree (Qada') and destiny (Qadar), for human will is subordinate to God's will. Allah the Almighty says: {And you do not will except that Allah wills - Lord of the worlds.} (Quran 81:29), and the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Allah wrote the decrees of all creation fifty thousand years before He created the heavens and the earth."

This does not negate taking means and working diligently, for the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Act, for everyone is facilitated for what he was created for," and he said: "Tie it and then rely [on Allah]."

As for the second line: "Were it not for him, neither sun nor moon, nor stars nor trees would have been created," this is an exaggeration (ghuluw) forbidden concerning the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, for the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Do not exaggerate in praising me as the Christians exaggerated in praising Jesus son of Mary. Rather, say: 'He is the servant of Allah and His Messenger.'"
