Is it permissible to miss Tarawih prayers due to working as a security guard in the mosque during them, and praying Tarawih at home, and does this incur sin?
Tarawih prayer in mosques is a Sunnah legislated by the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, who then stopped observing it regularly for fear that it would become obligatory upon Muslims. Since it is not obligatory, there is no sin upon one who misses performing it in the mosque due to work. It is recommended for whoever missed it in the mosque's congregation to pray it with another congregation or alone. It should not be neglected in this blessed month, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever stands (in prayer) during Ramadan with faith and expecting Allah's reward, all his past sins will be forgiven."
