How should one deal with a group that claims to uphold Tawhid and is characterized by the following: not praying in the main mosque on the pretext that the worshippers are innovators, fasting and breaking fast with Saudi Arabia despite the geographical distance, denying sorcery, leniency in lowering garments below the ankles, permitting the trimming of beards, not praying behind the Tablighi Jamaat, and not recognizing ijma' (consensus) and qiyas (analogical reasoning)?

One should not abandon congregational prayer in the mosque over a matter of jurisprudential difference, such as the Qunut supplication. It is obligatory to advise those who err with gentleness and kindness. Abandoning Friday prayer for the reasons mentioned is impermissible under any circumstances, and establishing a second Friday prayer is not allowed except out of necessity.

Regarding fasting and breaking fast with a specific country, the matter is one of jurisprudential difference, so there is no objection against one who adopts one of the opinions therein. However, linking fasting and breaking fast to the sighting of the crescent moon in a specific country is not an opinion held by any scholar.

As for letting one's garment hang below the ankles (isbal), many scholars consider it forbidden only if done out of arrogance, and disliked otherwise.

Regarding the shortening of the beard, the matter is one of jurisprudential difference, so there is no objection against one who adopts one of the opinions therein.

Denying magic is a grave error, as is denying Ijma' (consensus) and Qiyas (analogical reasoning). Denying definitive Ijma' is apostasy.

As for the Tablighi Jamaat, they are upon great good and have good intentions. If some errors are found, it is obligatory to address them and advise those who commit them, rather than refraining from praying behind them.

It is necessary to advise these people with gentleness and kindness, explaining the issues in which they have erred with wisdom and good admonition.
