What is the ruling of Islamic law regarding dealing with books and papers that contain the name of Allah and have been stained by bird droppings, and must they be purified before being disposed of (by burning, for example)?

Being keen on glorifying the name of Allah and protecting it from trivialization is part of glorifying the rituals of Allah and the piety of hearts. Scholars have stipulated the desirability of avoiding anything containing the mention of Allah when entering the lavatory, and prohibiting its disposal in the trash can. The name of Allah must be glorified within the bounds of legitimate purposes, which include alleviating hardship and difficulty from people, for religion is ease. Being overly strict in this matter might be blameworthy whisperings (waswasa), so a servant should suffice by burning or burying anything containing the name of Allah or texts legally glorified. Satan might deceive a person into believing that burning or burying involves greater insult, so one must beware of falling prey to Satan and avoid extremism. The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "The extremists are doomed."
