1 min readAlso available in العربية

"Concessions are a charity from Allah to remove hardship during difficulty. Among the excuses that permit breaking the fast are: illness and travel, for which compensation is due. The elderly person and the chronically ill whose recovery is not expected, for whom feeding the poor is due. The pregnant and breastfeeding woman, if they fear harm, for whom compensation and expiation (feeding the poor) are due. Whoever eats or drinks forgetfully should complete their fast, and no compensation is due from them. Whoever is overcome by hunger or thirst and fears perishing is permitted to break their fast. Whoever sees someone on the verge of perishing and cannot save them except by breaking their fast is permitted and required to do so. Swallowing ordinary saliva is permitted. If one is overcome by vomiting, their fast is not invalidated. Rinsing the mouth and sniffing water into the nose are permitted, provided there is no exaggeration."
