Must a wife make up the Ramadan days she missed due to her health condition to preserve her pregnancy, or is the paid Fidyah sufficient?

The sayings of the jurists vary regarding the ruling on pregnant and breastfeeding women if they break their fast out of fear for their child. The Shafi'is, Hanbalis, and Mujahid held the view that both making up the fast (qada') and offering expiation (it'am) are obligatory. In contrast, the Hanafis and others believed that expiation is not obligatory but rather recommended. The Malikis and Al-Layth held that a pregnant woman makes up the fast but does not offer expiation, while a breastfeeding woman both makes up the fast and offers expiation. Ibn 'Umar, Ibn 'Abbas, and Sa'id ibn Jubayr held that they break their fast and feed the poor, and no making up of the fast is required of them. The preponderant and authoritative opinion is that making up the fast is obligatory, as they are in the same category as the sick and the traveler, with the permissibility of delaying making up the fast for those who find it difficult, and the obligation of expiation, which is the opinion of the majority of scholars.
