How can one deal with a mother who discriminates between her children, frequently curses her daughter, and excessively controls her life, leading to the daughter's hatred for her mother and neglect of her rights, despite her fear of Allah's punishment and her own children's disobedience to her in the future?

Parents are religiously obligated to treat their children equally to foster their righteousness towards them and to eliminate animosity. If the mother discriminates and treats unfairly, then she is in error. The mother should be advised gently and kindly. In return, the daughter must honor her mother and treat her kindly, no matter how badly she treats her, because mistreatment does not negate the obligation of honoring parents. A daughter's shortcoming in fulfilling her duty towards her mother is an act of disobedience (ʿuqūq) and a major sin that requires repentance. The daughter should seek the reasons for her mother's ill-treatment, deal with her tactfully and kindly, seek help from wise women, and supplicate frequently.
