How should the questioner deal with her brothers and their wives who fall short in maintaining kinship ties with her and do not communicate with her, even when she gives birth, knowing that she lives alone in France while her family is in Algeria, and that she suffers from the fragmentation of her family?

Allah has made upholding kinship obligatory and forbidden severing it. Among the best deeds is to maintain ties with relatives who cut you off. There is a great reward for enduring their harm. "If you are as you say, then it is as if you are feeding them hot ashes, and you will continue to have a helper from Allah against them as long as you remain in that state." The brothers should be advised gently and kindly, and reminded of the gravity of severing kinship ties. It is preferable that this be done by someone who is likely to have an influence on them. As for the brothers' wives, if they are irreligious, gossiping, and harmful, this is an attempt to sow discord and spread rancor, which is the act of devils and sorcerers. "And from these two they learn that by which they cause separation between a man and his wife." Therefore, they must be advised and warned of Allah. If they do not mend their ways, they should be shunned if shunning is a deterrent and leads to reform. One should be patient, offer advice, and frequently engage in the remembrance of Allah and seeking forgiveness to alleviate psychological pressure. "Those who have believed and whose hearts are assured by the remembrance of Allah. Unquestionably, by the remembrance of Allah hearts are assured."
