What is the ruling on reading the Qur’an without applying the rules of recitation (Ahkam al-Tajweed), and does that negate the reward?

A Muslim must adhere to the rules of Tajweed when reciting or memorizing the Quran, to the best of their ability, by giving every letter its due, and observing the elongations (mudood), clear pronunciations (izhhar), assimilation (idgham), and concealment (ikhfaa). Whoever is able to learn Tajweed but neglects it or does not adhere to it, and their failure to do so corrupts the meaning or structure, then they are sinful. Whoever makes a mistake in their recitation that alters the meanings must refrain from reciting until they learn it, and if they recite in that condition, with the possibility of learning, then they are sinful.
