Love for the sake of Allah is from the Sunnah of the Prophet. Al-Miqdam bin Ma'dikarib narrated that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "If one of you loves his brother, he should inform him." The Companions applied this, for Anas bin Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, narrated that a man said to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "Indeed, I love this man." The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, commanded him to inform him of that. So the man stood up and said to him: "By Allah, I love you for the sake of Allah." And the other responded: "May the One for whose sake you loved me, love you."
