How can one dispose of utensils and tableware made of or plated with gold and silver? Is it permissible to sell them, or is Zakat obligatory on them?

Utensils Plated with Gold or Silver:

- If the plating is minimal, from which nothing can be extracted by fire, then there is no harm in using them, and no zakat (definition) is due on them.

- If the plating is such that something can be extracted from it by fire, then it must be removed, and zakat is due on it if it reaches the nisab (definition).

- As for utensils made of gold or silver: Eating and drinking from them is forbidden by the consensus of jurists, and using them for adornment is forbidden according to the majority. They may not be sold in this form, and zakat is due on them if the gold or silver reaches the nisab.
