Am I obligated to provide maintenance for the pregnancy of my wife who left my house without my permission and has been staying with her family for several months while she is pregnant?

A woman is not permitted to leave her husband's home without his permission. If she does so, she is considered disobedient (nashiz) and is not entitled to financial support (nafaqah). However, the reason for her departure must be ascertained, as it might be due to the husband's ill-treatment.

Scholars have differed regarding the financial support for a pregnant, disobedient woman (nashiz): Is it for the fetus or for the woman herself? The majority of scholars hold that a pregnant nashiz woman is entitled to financial support because the support is for the fetus itself. This is the more probable opinion, as financial support is obligatory upon the father, even if the mother is disobedient. If they differ on the amount of support, the matter is referred to a judge to settle the dispute.
