Is a person considered an associate of a wine drinker, or a perpetrator of a sin, if he shakes hands and speaks for a minute with a wine drinker at the place of his drinking, and then leaves?

It is not permissible to approach those who drink alcohol and greet them unless it is for the purpose of offering advice and enjoining good and forbidding evil. This is because sitting with them while they are in such a state is considered an affirmation of the evil act. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade sitting at a table where alcohol is served. Allah Almighty said: (And He has already revealed to you in the Book that when you hear the verses of Allah being denied and ridiculed, then do not sit with them until they engage in another conversation. Indeed, if you did, you would be like them). A Muslim must repent and seek forgiveness for this, and avoid the companionship of evil people.
