Is a person free to choose and responsible for their actions, or are their actions predestined for them? And was her separation from her fiancé by divine decree, or is she responsible for this decision?

She must understand that if her ex-fiancé were destined to be her husband, he would have been. Therefore, she should not blame herself or regret what has passed, for marriage is a provision decreed fifty thousand years before the creation of the heavens and the earth. She should reflect on the words of Allah Almighty: {No disaster strikes upon the earth or among yourselves except that it is in a register before We create it – indeed that, for Allah, is easy – in order that you not grieve over what has eluded you and not exult [in pride] over what He has given you. And Allah does not like every self-deluded and boastful [person]} [Al-Hadid: 22-23], and ponder the words of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "If something befalls you, do not say, 'If only I had done such and such,' but rather say, 'Qadar (definition) Allah wa ma sha'a fa'al (Allah has decreed and what He willed has occurred),' for 'if only' opens the door to the work of Satan."
