Where does the soul go after death until the Day of Judgment, does it see its family, and does it worship Allah during this period?

The souls of believers worship Allah after they depart from their bodies, but this worship is not one of obligation. Ibn al-Qayyim mentioned that the souls of believers prostrate before the Throne upon death and sleep, and he cited as evidence what was narrated that when the soul of a believer ascends to the heavens, it prostrates at the Throne. As for the prophets, authentic texts have been reported regarding their worship, including the prayer of Musa (peace be upon him) in his grave.
