The answer

If a fasting person experiences unbearable hardship, they are permitted to break their fast. If the hardship is unbearable for your wife, she is permitted to break her fast, and she must make up the days she missed at any time she is able to, as Allah states: "So whoever among you is ill or on a journey [during them] - then [he must make up] an equal number of other days." If she is completely unable to fast, then she must feed one poor person for each day, providing a mudd (approximately 750 grams of the staple food of the land).

As for you, the ruling on fasting for a diabetic varies depending on their condition. If you are someone for whom breaking the fast is permissible due to illness, but you endured the fast to encourage your wife, then your fast is valid and sufficient. However, you may have done something disliked because it involves harming oneself and abandoning the alleviation granted by Allah.
