Is it permissible to be named Abdul Muhsin?

The names of Allah Almighty are توقيفية (divinely ordained) and are only established through evidence. The name "al-Muhsin" (the Benefactor) has not been reported as one of the names of Allah, and therefore, it is not permissible to be named "Abd al-Muhsin" (servant of the Benefactor).

The error in such namings arises from two aspects: 1. Naming Allah with what has not been revealed [in scripture]. 2. Worshipping Allah with what He has not named Himself, nor has His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him).

If it is possible to change the name in official documents, then this must be done. Otherwise, the name should be changed in daily interactions with people to a name like "Abdullah" (servant of Allah), and there is no harm in the official name that cannot be changed.
