What is the ruling on removing hair from the chest, back, thighs, and around the private parts? And has any hadith been reported concerning this?

Hair on the human body is divided into three categories:

1. Forbidden to remove: Such as the beard for men, and plucking (removing eyebrow hair) for men and women, the evidence for which are authentic hadiths.

2. Required to remove: Such as armpit and pubic hair, and trimming the mustache, the evidence for which are the hadiths of fitra (natural disposition).

3. That which is unmentioned (permissible): Such as hair on the chest, back, thighs, and legs. No text has been reported commanding its retention or removal, so the matter is left to a person's choice.
