What is the ruling on a man removing hair?

The hair on the human body is divided into three categories: The first: that which is forbidden to shave, such as the beard, and to pluck, such as the eyebrows. The second: that which is recommended to remove, such as trimming the mustache and shaving the pubic hair and armpits. The third: that which is not mentioned, and thus remains permissible; due to the absence of any text prohibiting it. Accordingly, it is permissible for a man to remove or leave his body hair.
