Is it permissible to give the monetary value instead of rice for the expiation of delaying a compensatory fast, with the recommendation to the beneficiary to purchase rice with it, out of consideration for his circumstances?

Whoever breaks their fast in Ramadan with a valid excuse must make up for it before the next Ramadan. If they delay making up for it until the next Ramadan begins, they must still make up for it. Many scholars are of the opinion that feeding a needy person for each day is obligatory, while others hold that feeding is recommendable.

It is permissible for someone who wishes to feed a needy person to give them money and authorize them to buy food with it. Scholars have mentioned the permissibility for a poor person to authorize a rich person to receive Zakat al-Mal from themselves.
