Is it permissible to supplicate by saying: "O Allah, forgive me by the honor of Your Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him"?

Supplicating to Allah to keep one's feet firm on the Sirat (bridge over Hell) is a good supplication. However, dedicating this supplication specifically to the washing of the feet during wudu' (ablution) is incorrect, because wudu' is an act of worship whose method is divinely prescribed (tawqifi), and it has not been reported from the Prophet (peace be upon him) that he designated a specific supplication for each limb during wudu'. The narrations reported in this regard are very weak and cannot be acted upon. The second error is the supplicant's saying: "By the status of the Prophet," as it is not legislated to seek intercession with Allah through the status (jah) of created beings. Even though the status of the Prophet (peace be upon him) is immense, seeking intercession through it has not been mentioned among the means by which supplications are answered. Therefore, a Muslim must follow the Sunnah and avoid innovations.
