What is the ruling on piercing the ear for wearing earrings for a girl and a young man?

There is no legal impediment for a girl to pierce her ear for adornment, provided that she does not display the adornment to non-mahrams, and that it does not involve imitation of disbelieving women or their specific symbols. As for a man, it is not permissible for him to pierce his ear, as it involves imitation of women, and the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, cursed men who imitate women. If a man wears jewelry in it, he has sinned in several ways: imitating women, imitating some disbelievers and criminals, and adorning himself with gold if the attached item is gold.
