What is the ruling on piercing a girl's ear for wearing jewelry, and is it permissible to pierce the upper part of the ear?

Firstly: Mixed-gender work between men and women is forbidden and has negative consequences.

Secondly: Scholars differed regarding the ruling on piercing a female's ear. The Hanafis and Hanbalis permitted it, while the Shafi'is forbade it, citing the reason of inflicting pain and the lack of necessity. The more preponderant opinion is permissibility, due to the presence of texts from the Prophetic Sunnah indicating that the female Companions wore jewelry in their ears, and the Prophet (peace be upon him) approved of this. There is no difference between piercing the ear from the bottom or the top if it is customary, with the caveat that it is not permissible for a woman to display her jewelry. The two Shaykhs, Ibn Uthaymeen and Al-Fawzan, permitted ear piercing for adornment. Ibn Uthaymeen also held the view that nose piercing is permissible if it is considered an adornment in the woman's country.
