What is the ruling on piercing the lips and navel, taking into account the Shariah rulings of not displaying them in front of non-mahrams, and if there is no intention of imitating disbelievers?

Early scholars did not address the ruling on piercing the navel or lips for placing jewelry. The majority of scholars permitted piercing a female's ear for adornment, because it has been the custom among Muslim women since the time of prophethood, and this is the relied-upon position of the four madhhabs. Jurists differed on the ruling of nose piercing; some prohibited it due to the absence of common custom, while others permitted it if it became a customary form of adornment, by analogy with ear piercing. Therefore, if it becomes a custom for women to adorn themselves by piercing the navel or lips, and no harm or torment results from it, and it is not exclusive to non-Muslim women, then it is permissible. Otherwise, it is prohibited.
