What is your assessment of internet fatwas, and why do fatwas not include the opinions of Ibn 'Uthaymeen and Ibn Baz?

Issuing a fatwa is a serious matter and holds great status in religion. There are two types of people:

1. Those who possess the ability to discern and extract evidence. They must follow the evidence and are not bound by anything that contradicts it. 2. Those who lack the competence to understand religious evidence. There is no blame upon them for following a specific madhhab (school of thought) or a trustworthy imam. However, adherence to the Qur'an and Sunnah is obligatory, and the evidence is the ultimate arbiter; it is not permissible to deviate from it for anyone's statement. The questioner must choose the most knowledgeable and pious person.

The methodology of this website is to issue fatwas based on the Qur'an, Sunnah, consensus (Ijma'), and the analogical reasoning (Qiyas) of scholars. The most preponderant opinion with the strongest evidence is chosen, and the lenient opinions (rukhs) of various madhhabs are not pursued. The fatwas on this website undergo a regulated process of preparation and review, and those responsible for them are academically qualified.
