Does the love of fame and renown—as a form of professional success—conflict with seeking reward from Allah for reforming Muslim households, and with seeking reward from Allah for being a good wife, in addition to the husband's perception and self-esteem?

There is no doubt that the love of fame and widespread renown is contrary to sincerity, as is the desire for people's praise and commendation. However, loving fame for the sake of gaining more reward by benefiting people, not merely to gain their favor, is not objectionable. Similarly, intending the fruits of righteous deeds that are approved by Islamic law does not contradict sincerity, such as intending the husband's love and respect by being a good wife to him; because this is among the legitimate objectives. Therefore, aspiring to the fruits of acts of worship does not contradict sincerity, as long as we intend the objectives of the Lawgiver that result from these deeds.
