If menstruation begins after the time for the Asr prayer has ended, it must be made up after purification because it was missed due to sleep. If it is not known whether menstruation began after the Maghrib prayer time entered or before it, the event is attributed to the nearest time, which is after Maghrib prayer time entered, and thus the Asr prayer must be made up. As for the Maghrib prayer, it is more cautious and absolves one's responsibility to also make it up after purification if a woman menstruates during its time before she has prayed it.
