Will a patient who suffered from paranoid schizophrenia be held accountable on the Day of Judgment for episodes of hatred towards Allah and people, due to his belief that he is among the people of Hellfire as a result of believing the delusions of the illness, knowing that he has recovered from this illness?

If illness overwhelms a person's mind to the point where they are unaware of what they are saying, then they are not accountable for the words they utter. However, if they are aware of what they are saying, then they are accountable. It was narrated from Al-Shafi'i that whoever is overwhelmed in their mind by illness is not bound by divorce, prayer, or hudud punishments. It is advisable to study the Quran and books of encouragement and deterrence, reflect on the reasons for entering Paradise and Hellfire, and act accordingly.
