What is the ruling on listening to the Quran with the intention of guiding the heart and cultivating love for the Quran, while not focusing intently or listening attentively, taking into consideration His (the Almighty's) saying: "And when the Quran is recited, then listen to it and pay attention"?

There is no harm in listening to the Qur’an with the intention of listening to it and pondering over it, while occupying the heart with understanding what is being heard to achieve guidance. There is a difference between samāʿ (hearing) and istimāʿ (listening); samāʿ is more general, while istimāʿ means intending to hear with the purpose of understanding what is being heard and benefiting from it, which involves occupying the heart with listening and paying close attention.
