Is it permissible to kill harmful animals that get caught on the hook during hunting, such as snakes, moray eels, or stonefish, and throw them back into the sea, or must they be returned to the sea alive?

There is no harm in killing harmful animals to prevent their damage, due to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, saying: "There is no harm nor reciprocal harm," and the jurisprudential rule: "Harm is to be removed," and by analogy with the five noxious creatures. However, if these animals do not cause harm unless provoked, and their meat is free of poison, they should not be killed in vain. Rather, they should be utilized or returned alive to the sea.
