Does the prayer of one who resorts to a woman who claims to heal with the Qur’an, and who told him that there is someone bewitching him, become invalid for forty days? And what should he do to repent so that Allah may accept his prayer?

A woman telling you, "There is a woman standing in your way and harboring ill will towards you," and her taking the woman's name, is done by charlatans, not by those who treat with the Quran. If you did not sit with her and you believe she is a soothsayer or sorceress, then we hope that no sin has afflicted you. The warning includes those who came to her and sat with her while knowing her condition or believing her, as the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Whoever goes to a fortune-teller and asks him about something, his prayer will not be accepted for forty nights." The meaning of "prayer not being accepted" is that he will not be rewarded for it. The way to rid oneself of sin is sincere repentance with remorse and a firm resolve not to sit with her in the future. The hadith "Whoever comes to a soothsayer and asks him about something; his repentance will be veiled from him for forty nights" is very weak. Repent to Allah and establish prayer.
